Red Velvet Cheesecake

April 20, 2010

The Cheesecake Factory’s newest cheesecake, Stefanie’s Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake, brings together moist layers of Red Velvet Cake and The Cheesecake Factory’s decadent Original Cheesecake covered with a cream cheese frosting and topped with white chocolate shavings.  Those who wish to indulge themselves in the piece of cake will be enjoying a slice of heaven.  This cheesecake is a must try for anyone who even remotely likes cheesecake.  Not only will you be able to enjoy this fine dessert but you can feel good about yourself for purchasing it because for every slice of Stefanie’s Ultimate Cheesecake that is sold, The Cheesecake Factory will be donating $.25 to the Feeding America organization, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

If this cheesecake doesn’t satisfy that sweet-tooth.  I certainly don’t know what could.

Stefanie sure did create something amazing here.

Fish In A Bottle

March 23, 2010

I just heard about this restaurant not too long ago.  It’s in Placentia near Yorba Linda on Rose Drive and Imperial Highway.  I went on a Friday, so because it’s lent, which means myself and all other catholics can’t eat meat, it was very crowded (seafood doesn’t count as meat).   Waited 30 minutes for a table…

The restaurant itself is very small.  They do offer dining on their patio, but it is still a small venue.  Fish In A Bottle doesn’t look like much on the outside because it is attached to other businesses, but on the inside it is very modern, dark, and clean.

The service was decent.  The  waiter was worked very well, he deserved his tip.  But the food did take a while for it to get to the table.  The menu is huge, both in selection and in actual size.  The menu was heavy… haha.  Theres an amazing assortment of different rolls to order from.  The restaurant favorite is the Cowboy Roll.  Which is a sushi roll that has pieces of rib-eye steak in it.  Unfortunately that will have to wait for another time since I can’t eat meat on Fridays until Easter.

The Mango Tango Roll is very good and different.  It has mango wrapped around the outside and has crab and macadamia nuts in the middle.  The texture is very pleasing, creamy from the crab and crunch from the macadamia.  The Mountain Roll is also very delicious.  It is a spicy tuna roll wrapped with baked salmon.  It is topped with a delicious cream sauce and fried onions.

The prices here are decent.  $10 a roll.  Each roll comes with eight pieces.  Fish In A Bottle also serves Nigirizushi.  Which is the hand-formed sushi that is just a piece of rice and a piece of fish.  Their Nigirizushi is very good, but it on the pricy side, about $2.50 for 2 pieces.  But that is about that same price for Nigirizushi at any other sushi restaurant.

Conclusion

Fish In A Bottle is a very good sushi restaurant.  Their servers are great, the foods great and the atmosphere is great.

Worth your money?

Yes

Next time you’re looking for some sushi, and just not your everyday sushi, I highly recommend Fish In a Bottle

Yard House

March 16, 2010

World’s Largest Selection of Draft Beer

At the corner of Birch St. and Brea Blvd. is an amazing restaurant that goes by the name of Yard House.  The Yard House is an upscale-eatery known for its large menu and the world’s largest selection of draft beer, they guarantee that there will be a beer flavor for everyone.  When customers first walk into Yard House they feel the bar-like atmosphere, with dim lights and the biggest sporting events playing on multiple TVs.

Yard House offers a wide variety of delicious American cuisine that include soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, individual-size pizzas, seafood, steaks, ribs and chops.  I started off with a very delicious French Onion Soup topped with a sourdough crouton and melted swiss cheese.

For the main dish I ordered the Grilled Rib Eye.  The rib eye was a 12 oz. cut, a very decent sized piece of steak.  Whenever I am in the mood for steak i always go for a rib eye cut.  The steak was cooked a perfect medium-rare and it was very juicy.  No steak sauce was needed to compliment this finely prepared piece of meat.  The rib eye was very tender and perfectly seasoned, I could still taste the natural flavors of the steak.  The steak is topped with a dab of shallot butter and goes very well with the dish.  It was served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.  The mashed potatoes weren’t anything special, but the green beans tasted very fresh and were crunchy.  There was a lot of food on the plate.  They don’t skimp out on the food here.

There servers at Yard House are very polite.  Although they were a bit slow at times.  Maybe because it was a busy night? Who knows?  Nothing amazing here, nothing bad.  Theres not much else to say. They got the job done, and I was happy with the staff.

Conclusion

All in all Yard House is a very good place to take a date that you’re trying to impress.  It is on the expensive side of things though.  But there’s good food and a big selection.

Worth your money?

Yes

My soup and entrée came out to be roughly $43.

Korean BBQ!

Cham Soot Gol

I have been going to this place in Garden Grove for the past 4 years now.  I am very loyal to it, and in turn, Cham Soot Gol is loyal to me.  I have never had a bad experience there.  I highly suggest that you come and try this place.

This is what sets Cham Soot Gol a part from other KBBQ places.

  • The Service

The service here is amazing! I never have to ask for anything.  If they see an empty dish, they will ask if I would like more.  It’s also very impressive that the servers actually care how clean the customer’s grill is.  Cooking your food on a grill that has charred stuff all over it sucks cuz it will make the food stick and it makes the food taste bad.  The menu says all you can eat, the don’t lie here.  Most restaurants don’t even offer free refills on drinks anymore.  Not only is their service is very prompt, but the staff is very friendly.  Another cool thing about this restaurant, is that if you ever do need to ask for something, you don’t even have to get the server’s attention!  There a button on the table that lets the front know that you need something and they send a server back right away.  This last part about their service might be a bit weird, but Cham Soot Gol has a very attractive looking staff.  This helps their business a lot because, let’s be honest, would you rather have an attractive person or an unattractive person serve you food to you if the quality of their service is the same?

  • The Food

The food here is simply amazing.  After all you do cook it yourself.  But the quality of the meat is very good, the Brisket has the perfect fat to meat ratio.  The marinade on their BBQ Beef is very good, it’s sweet.  They use the same marinade on the Chicken as well.  The Spicy Pork is very delicious as well, although it isn’t spicy at all.  All of their Banchan is very good.  I love their seasoned Bean Sprouts and the Kimchi is also very delicious, it goes very well with the Beef Brisket.  I’ve been coming here for a while now, and before, their Tofu Soup was terrible.  I never touched it.  They revamped the recipe, and it is now on par with all of the other food served.  Before their Tofu Soup looked and tasted like something you would buy in bulk at Cost Co, eat one bowl, and leave the rest sitting in your pantry for the next few years.

  • Ice Cream!

To top off the meal Cham Soot Gol offers their customers complimentary ice cream!  Ice Cream never tastes as good as it does after KBBQ.  Trust me when I say, There will ALWAYS be room for Ice Cream after your meal.  They usually have 3 flavors at a time, Green Tea, Cookies and Cream, and Chocolate.

Prices – All-you-can-eat Lunch (till 3pm) $13

           All-you-can-eat Dinner (after 3pm) $17

GO EAT! 😀
